Used Furnitures

Is there a guarantee on second-hand furniture purchased from eBay?

I bought a second hand bed from eBay which has broken, less than a month after we bought it. On examination it has been fixed with a botch job previously. This was not mentioned at all on the listing. Is there anything I can do? I know I can open a resolution case in eBay but wonder if there's any point if second-hand sellers have no obligation even though the listing was not factually correct. Thanks for reading.

  1. No because those are other people selling you the stuff and not ebay
  2. It would be worth the resolution case because as you said the sellers listing wasn't factual and didn't state the 'fixed up' state It would help if you can take photo's of the work they did to it in case they deny it though
  3. if it was bought from a private seller, then you have no come back, especially if you collected it, they may say they didn't know anything about it. If it was bought from an online store (even 2nd hand goods) then the Sale of goods act protects you and they should replace it or refund your money.
  4. It is probably worth contacting the seller with a description of your problem. Most people on Ebay are decent and honest and you may find that they are happy to come to some mutually agreeable settlement with you. I'm afraid that, if you have bought from a private seller, you probably don't have any legal protection. You have nothing to lose by contacting the Ebay resolution centre but it would only be fair to give the seller an opportunity to make the situation better.
  5. sorry for your troubles. but i do not buy anything at eaby before. anyway wish you have good luck and deal with your problems smoothly.~
